Yandex joins the default open-web sources
Open-web searches now use Yandex alongside Google and DuckDuckGo, and community results that general engines find are kept instead of filtered out.
Three general engines now cover the open web: Google, DuckDuckGo and Yandex. A third independent index finds pages the other two rank lower, and results that appear in more than one engine rank higher, so agreement between three engines is a stronger signal than agreement between two.
Community results are no longer removed
Before this change, general engines dropped Hacker News, Reddit and GitHub links from their results, leaving those sites to their dedicated sources. Those links now stay, so a relevant thread that Google or Yandex finds is not discarded. When the same URL arrives from several engines, it is still merged into one result.
